Rain boots

14 Oct

Living in New Jersey, especially during the spring and fall, we sometimes have days of nice sunny weather that turn into a torrential downpour. So avoid getting caught in the rain in your suede boots or leather flip flops, checking the weather is crucial. Some days you may leave your house at 10 am, prepared for rain and the sky will not let a drop out. Sometimes this can be really frustrating, especially if you have uncomfortable/ugly/outdated rain boots.

I know when I go back home, NO ONE would everrry wear rain boots. I know my mom think they are silly and un needed. However when your walking half a mile in the flooded streets of new brunswick (or whatever rundown college area you live in), rain boots are essential to having a successful/comfortable college life (at least in my opinion). I will admit I tried resisting the rain boots fad my freshman year, thinking that my water-proofed uggs would do the trick. Not at alll. Sitting in class with wet toes for an hour and 20 minutes was not appealing. So I went out shopping for the perfect rain boots and found myself in countless stores, constantly displeased with the patterns and fit of the boots.

In my opinion, rain boots should encompass a number of things.

  • Tall (so water doesn’t splash up on the back of your leg)
  • Neutral (color, so they match almost anything)
  • Tight (around leg, so water doesn’t fall into them)
  • Comfortable (you may be wearing them all day/ all winter, if it snows where you live)
  • Stylish (incase you run into a PBF- potential boy friend)
  • Unnoticeable (I hate when I see girls wearing neon pink leopard print boots- rain boots are not an attractive piece of your wardrobe, so stop drawing everyones attention to them!)
The rain boots that I have grown to love (after my failed attempt at buying a target brand and slipping/almost falling in front of the entire dinning hall) are a brand called Capelli New York.

I got them from a local store at 50% off, since it was during the beginning of the summer (ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS go at the end of one season to buy things for next years season- hugeeeeee money saver). Anyway, they are everything a rain boot should encompass and more. I also had the option of buying specially designed tall socks that I can wear over my regular socks and fold over the top of the boot for added warmth (i obviously did).
The moral of this post, when in doubt, keep your toes wear and buy cute rain boots- even if your mom thinks your weird.

Welcome to my blog

14 Oct

Hello world! I am writing this blog to help other college students like myself find cute outfits at an affordable price. I am focusing my attention to clothing that students wear on campus. Weather its something for class or going out, I will try to include something for everyone!

Please feel free to send me feedback. I would really like this to be an interactive blog. If you have just pick up something that was a reallllly good buy, let me know! I would love to share your bargin with others. Finding a good deal is very important for us college students!

Since I am located at Rutgers in New Brunswick and I am aware that the world wide web has made it possible for people alllllll over the world to access my blog, I think it would be interesting to find the simaliries and differences in what college students wear in different geographic locations. So please send me input! From those students who attend college across the globe to those who are local, I would like to hear it all!  I am really interested in finding what students around the globe wear.

My overall goal for this blog is to share good fashion tips, at an affordable price, that come from a variety of people, with different backgrounds, cultures and geographic locations. Starting a new trend at your school (that isn’t breaking your wallet) may make you the new talk of discussion!

Hope you enjoy reading my future blog posts.

Please follow me AND share with your friends!

AND DONT FORGET TO LEAVE FEEDBACK/INPUT!

I cant improve without the help of others 🙂
